SPOTLIGHT
|

SPLICE- the Web Service Mashup Platform February was a big month
for Xignite. After almost two years of secretive
development, we launched Splice, the first
on-demand solution allowing developers to
customize and share web services.
The idea
for Splice initially came from our clients.
While they all enjoyed the ease of integration
and intuitive designs of our web services,
some requested that we customize them to better
fit their requirements. Common requests included
optimizing for performance (lower XML verbosity),
reducing the numbers of calls needed to
collect multiple data sets, or customizing outputs.
Rather than doing this on a one-off basis,
we decided to empower you to do it yourself.
Indeed, with Splice, you can:
-
Combine many services into a single call.
-
Integrate private and 3rd party web services.
-
Format a service to exactly fit your application.
-
Re-use Splices
to power any application.
-
Share your services with other developers.
Our objective
is to foster a community of developers facing
like challenges, who are willing to build and
share a large library of
re-usable composite web services built on top of our services and others. Instead of spending time writing custom code that will be a pain to maintain, use Splice to deploy your integration on our servers and share it with other developers. Splice effectively provides "Integration
As a Service".
The best news is that Splice is not only free to trial, it is also free
to use for existing clients under Standard support or above. You can create
and operate one free splice per service under subscription.
Please
register today and let us know what you think!

XigniteCorporateActions Many of you have requested
a reliable corporate action web service that
would let you accurately maintain your own
security master. Thanks to Xignite's recent partnership with Telekurs, we will soon
introduce a corporate action service that will not only
provide accurate dividend, split and security
changes information, but also cover complex
transactions such as mergers, acquisitions and
split-offs.
XigniteGlobalMaster In addition to XigniteCorporateActions, Xignite also partnered with
Telekurs to offer Telekur's, complete VDF
(Valor Data Feed) product as a web service to Xignite and
Telekurs clients. XigniteGlobalMaster will
provide you with access to one of the most
comprehensive data ranges in the world for
securities administration, risk management,
portfolio management and trading divisions.
XigniteIndustries Just like
XigniteFinancials and
XigniteFundamentals
provide access to hundreds of data points and 10
years of financial statements for US and
Canadian equities, XigniteIndustries will
provide the same information for composite industry groups. This service will be indispensable
for those needing to analyze performance of a
company against its peers.
If
there is anything you need that you don't find
on our website, don't hesitate to email us.

Tempus Leads Deployment of Currency Web Service
Tempus, based
in Washington, D.C., is a full service provider
of foreign exchange and international payment
services to corporate clients. The company has
improved operational efficiency by integrating
Xignite's currency web service into its
proprietary order management system to ensure
currency data accuracy. As Tempus opens new
offices in the United States and Europe, it
needed to address the scalability issue of
processing high volume of foreign exchange
transactions with accurate exchange rates.
Challenge When Tempus process
clients' foreign currency orders, its sales
staff first obtain rate quotes from Tempus
traders using Bloomberg, then enter the currency
rates into the internal transaction system. With
any data entry process, inadvertent "keying"
errors occurred which were caught and corrected
by back-office staff during order fulfillment.
Processing currency transactions with incorrect
rates posted an obstacle to Tempus' future
growth. Operational staff spent time tracing and
fixing errors, time that could have been spent
on more value-added tasks.
Solution To eliminate currency data
entry errors, Tempus deployed XigniteCurrencies
in its order management system to allow its
traders to cross-check, in real-time, the rates
that sales force entered. The internal
transaction system uses a SOAP interface to get
real-time currency rates from Xignite.
Benefits For Tempus, the results
from implementing XigniteCurrencies are higher
operational efficiency and cost savings. Since
XigniteCurrencies is delivered as a web service,
it saves Tempus significant development time and
effort during integration. The pre-formatted
currency data can be easily deployed to automate
the verification of currency rates in the order
management process. In addition, Xignite's web
service pricing is based on actual data usage,
making the currency web service affordable for a
mid-sized business such as Tempus.
Overall, XigniteCurrencies
provides Tempus with an integrated and
affordable solution to ensure accuracy and
integrity of currency rates in processing
foreign exchange transactions, allowing Tempus
to realize productivity gains in real terms to
support future business growth in both the U.S.
and Europe.

XigniteInterbanks Many of our clients
have requested to increase our coverage
of global Interbank interest rates. So we took
the Interbank Rates that were available in
XigniteRates and packaged them in our new XigniteInterbanks web
service.
We then worked hard on
adding a whole new set of interbank rates: HIBOR
(Hong Kong), MEXIBOR (Mexico City), BUBOR
(Bulgaria), MIBOR (Mumbai), KORIBOR (Korea),
PRIBOR (Prague), SABOR (South Africa), TAIBOR
(Taipei), TURKIBOR (Turkey), CHILIBOR (Chile),
TELBOR (Tel Aviv), CHIBOR (China), SHIBOR
(Shanghai), JIBOR (Jakarta), KLIBOR (Kuala
Lumpur), TIBOR (Tokyo), PHILLIBOR (Philippines),
BKIBOR (Bangkok), BRIBOR (Brazil) and VNIBOR
(Viet Nam).
These
enhancements, couple with an enhanced
relationship with the British Bankers Association, make XigniteInterbanks one of
the most comprehensive sources of worldwide
interbanks rates and the only web service
providing sought-after LIBOR data.
XigniteMoneyMarkets Demand for real-time
interest rate information has never been
stronger. We recently launched XigniteMoneyMarkets as
a comprehensive source of real-time US Treasury
and real-time global swap rate
information for more than 24 currencies. For a
demo of all available rates, check here.
Web Service Enhancements We
constantly enhance existing services by adding
new operations or data sets to existing
services. Here is a quick rundown of some
enhancements for the last few months:
-
Addition of real-time Currency Forward Rates to
XigniteCurrencies.
-
Addition of historical cross bid-ask information to
XigniteCurrencies.
-
Addition of real-time and historical currency converters to
XigniteCurrencies.
-
Addition of currency reports to
XigniteCurrencies.
-
Addition of Canadian NewsWire (CNW) to
XigniteReleases.
-
Addition of new data points to
XigniteFundamentals including StateOfIncorporation, TotalDebt,
TotalCash, TotalAssets, TotalLiabilities, NetIncome, TotalRevenue,
TotalExpenses, TotalOperatingExpenses, OperatingIncome, StateOfIncorporation,
SECName, LastAnnualReport, LastQuarterly, LastProxyStatement, IRSNumber,
FiscalYear and others.
Don't hesitate
to contact us if you need
new operations or new data to increase the value
you get from our web services. We pride
ourselves in being able to respond to our
clients quickly and effectively.

Requesting All Symbols For An Exchange Many of
our web services take a coma-delimited list of
symbols as a parameter. Sometimes, you may need
to pull a list of values--like quotes or
fundamentals--for all the symbols listed on a
given exchange. Doing so would require you to
build that list of symbols and pass it as a
parameter.
There is an easy syntax
trick you can use to do that without
programming. You only need to prefix the symbol
with asterisk (*) and provide the name of the
exchange. In addition, you can limit your query
to symbols matching a string. But don't forget
that each symbol will count as a hit against
your service credits.
| |
|
|
| |
Example The syntax to follow is the
following.
*EXCHANGE[starstring,endstring] For instance:
*NYSE returns all
symbols for the NYSE. *NASDAQGS[A,B] returns
all symbols for the NASDAQ Global Select that
start with the letter A.
For a list of exchange
codes, check the ListExchanges
operations from XigniteMaster. |
